MS subbulakshmi rate teenage photo

Labels: 0

Way back in 1937, two young long-haired women in saris stepped into a small photo studio in Madras. They changed into striped pyjama suits and struck a pose in front of the studio camera. One of them leaned languidly against a chair, while the other’s eyes focused on something outside the frame. Both of them held cigarettes perhaps just for the thrill of it .

That’s world-renowned Carnatic vocalist MS Subbulakshmi and the legendary Bharatanatyam dancer Balasaraswati who were just having a bit of fun.

The two teenaged friends both became world-famous artists. From strictly disciplined households, the two asserted their independence by secretly arranging this photograph of themselves dressed outrageously in Western-style sleepwear and pretending to smoke cigarettes.

This iconic photograph was first made public only 73 years later, in the 2010 biography of Balasaraswati penned by her son-in-law Douglas Knight J. By this time, the successful careers of these artists were so highly revered over decades, almost deified, that this picture quite suddenly threw light on a whole new aspect of their lives – just two young friends attempting to do something unconventional.

The stir caused by the release of the photograph among fans of both luminaries is perhaps understandable, particularly in the case of Subbulakshmi.

It is a very important picture that goes to show that not everyone was born with a nine-yard saree or does everything Traditionally.  That is our own perspective, and we don’t like things that fall out of it. We all need a jolt sometimes.

You are what you think

Labels: 0

In the movie _Taare Zameen Par_
The art teacher tells the rude and cursing father of the dyslexic kid about *Solomon Islands..*

In those islands, the tribal don’t cut down a tree. *They surround the tree and curse it for hours every day..*

Within a few weeks, the tree
dries up and becomes dead..

Many of us might find that example too difficult to believe. How can intangible and invisible thoughts and words kill a tree.!

Well, if you get to read Bruce H. Lipton’s THE BIOLOGY OF BELIEF, you won’t only believe in the Solomon Islands story, but would also think a dozen times before saying something demoralizing to yourself and the people you love..

In this book, Mr. Lipton tells in detail about the power of conscious and subconscious mind..

The subconscious mind is millions of times more powerful than the conscious mind, and decides most of the things in our lives according to the beliefs it has..

Many times we fail to change an unpleasant habit despite our will-power and consistent efforts..

It’s because the habit has been so strongly programmed in our subconscious mind that the efforts made by our conscious mind hardly make any difference.

*Conscious Mind is just a shadow*
*of our Unconscious Mind..*

So, when the tribals of Solomon Islands curse a tree, they are actually installing negative and harmful beliefs in the tree’s emotion (yes, trees do have emotions too).

Within few days, those negative emotions becomes a belief & eventually changes the molecular architecture of the tree and kill it from inside..

2500 years ago, when the Buddha said that *‘you are what you think',* he was not articulating a random philosophical theory.

Actually he was telling a scientific fact which is now proved correct by Quantum Physics and Molecular Biology.

While reading the book, u will recall how *Buddha had talked about subconscious mind and its unfathomable power over our lives..*

*He called it Alay Vigyan which means store consciousness..*

*This is the part of mind where all our beliefs and experiences are stored; and they dictate our life from there..*

The book has a special chapter on Conscious Parenting where it talks about the beneficial and harmful effects of what parents say to their children..

If you are a parent and you keep cursing your child in the name of constructive criticism, you are installing beliefs in their mind which will keep harming them forever..

But if you keep appreciating them in a sincere way, you are installing beliefs in their mind which will help then for their entire life..

And also be careful of what
you keep saying to yourself.

Repetition of words and thoughts is the best way to install a belief in your subconscious mind..

If you keep saying you are a loser,
don’t be surprised if you become one within a few months or years..

And if you have friends who keep saying such things to you, there is no harm in saying a quick goodbye to them...

*When flood comes, fish eats ants and when flood recedes, ants eat fish. Only time matters. Just hold on. God gives opportunity to every one*.

*In a theatre when drama plays, you opt for front seats. When film is screened, you opt for rear seats. Your position in life is only relative. Not absolute*.

_For making soap, oil is required. But to clean oil, soap is required. This is the irony of life_.

*Every problem has (N+1) solutions: where N is the number of solutions that you have tried and 1 is that you have not tried*.

_When you are in problem, don't think it's the End. It is only a Bend in life_.

*Only two category of people are happy in life - the Mad and the Child. Be Mad to achieve a goal. Be a Child to enjoy what you achieved*.

Dhoni's distance from the stumps for the last ball : 13 meters from the stumps

Mustafizur Rahman was standing at the non striker end when the ball was delivered: 19 meters from the stumps, with the bat and hand extension giving him a 1.5 meter advantage: 17.5 meters from the stumps

When Pandya bowled the last ball, Mustafir had already left the crease and when the ball reached Dhoni's hands, he was already half way down the pitch: 10 metres

Now it was a battle between Dhoni at 13 meters from the stumps (who had to start running) and Mustafir who was 10 meters away from the stumps with the added advantage of 2 meters (extended bat): 8 meters ( who had already running in full throttle). Mustafir had a 5 meter advantage

No other wicket keeper in the world would have tried to run all the way to the stumps considering the fresh fast legs of Mustafir. Some might have thrown the ball at the stumps. If Johnty Rhodes was behind the wicket, he would have attempted to fly down and knock the stumps. But Dhoni tried to do the unthinkable. He tried to do the impossible. He took on Mustafizur.

Dhoni covered the 13 meter distance in 2 seconds (A start that Ussain Bolt would be proud of) and also defeated Mustafir's extended bat.

Everyone talks about the presence of mind that Dhoni has and the manner in which he removed the gloves for the last ball; yet if we analyse the last ball minutely, we will realize the roaring lion that resides inside the captain cool Dhoni that made him run like a mad man. That is the confidence that moves the entire team.
Leader leads by example..

Dedicated t all the fathers

👌Tooo good....
              must read....

👤🔑🎩💼👓
■ How important
is a father in one’s life?

Mothers are the Soul of our homes... whereas fathers are their very existence.

But have we ever given much thought to the nature of this
existence?

Little is written or said about fathers, even though we understand their value in our lives.

We hardly ever hear anyone talk about fathers. ..
Mothers are made of an ocean of tears. Fathers are a wall of self-control.

Mothers relieve their pain through tears, fathers only console, and it is harder to console than it is to cry.

Surely the candlestick is hotter than the flame, yet
it is always the flame which gets the praise.

We remember mothers as the ones who took care of our daily needs, yet how easily we forget fathers, who arrange finances for daily needs!

Mothers can cry uncontrollably in public, and fathers sob in their pillows at night.

Mothers are allowed to cry; fathers can never be seen in tears.

We can notice the patches on his shoes. His tattered vest is a sure sign of the struggle he gone through. His unshaven beard is a sign of his frugality. He will buy new pairs of expensive jeans for his children, while an old pair of pyjamas will do for him.

While children don’t blink an eyelid when they spend 1000's of Rs in a beauty parlour or salon, yet in their own home, a father may be using whatever is at home to avoid any salon or parlour visits.

When a father is ill, he does
not rush to the doctor. He does not fear his illness
but is afraid in case the doctor tells him to rest for a month, as there will be no other bread earner in the family.

Whether he can afford it
or not, he works hard to get his son admitted to an
engineering or medical course.
Despite the shortage of funds he send money regularly to his child at university even some children go on a gala spending spree on the same day the money arrives.

The Father is the existence of the
home. The home is secure from outsiders when a father, in the form of its manger, is alive. He holds the position of the chief executive of the household. He sees, repairs and cares for jobs around the house.

When you announce your exam results, it seems that mother is the closest person to you because she takes you in her arms, praises you and blesses you, but no one notices the father who quietly slips away to the sweet shop to get sweets to distribute among family and friends...

God made paradise under the feet of your mother but he made the father take care of the thorns under your feet....

♢ Salute to All Fathers
            of the world.
